Kristian LeukertMr. Kristian Leukert is in his ninth year of teaching at Loma Linda Academy and his nineteenth year of teaching overall. He graduated from La Sierra University in 2000 with degrees in Music Education and Trumpet Performance and went on to pursue graduate studies at the University of California, Irvine, where he obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree in Vocal Performance. While in college and graduate school, Mr. Leukert enjoyed performing and touring with many different ensembles, including Men in Black and the LSU Wind Ensemble, Sinfonia, Jazz Ensemble & Brass Quintet.
Upon completion of his M.F.A., Mr. Leukert was the tenor section leader and soloist at Geneva Presbyterian Church, Immanuel Presbyterian Church, and sang tenor in the Los Angeles Master Chorale under the direction of Grant Gershon. Mr. Leukert was also the Minister of Music at Eagle Rock Seventh-day Adventist Church where he led multiple praise bands and directed the church choir. He began his teaching career at Newbury Park Adventist Academy in the fall of 2003, where he directed bands for grades 5-12, and jazz band and choirs for grades 9-12. In 2010, Mr. Leukert moved to Monterey Bay Academy where he taught high school bands and choirs, in addition to starting up and directing a community elementary band program. Mr. Leukert received the Alumni Awards Foundation Teacher of Excellence award while teaching at MBA. Most recently, Mr. Leukert served for two years as the Pastor of Worship and Music at Loma Linda University Church. Ultimately, the allure of the classroom brought him back to teaching. His education and experiences as an instrumentalist, vocalist, and pastor have provided a rich background and foundation for his present work with the students at Loma Linda Academy. When he is not working, Mr. Leukert enjoys hanging out with his amazing wife, four delightful children, mother-in-law, and three dogs at their home in Loma Linda. He enjoys doing anything that involves his family. |
